This is where i will be CHRONICLING my travels over the next several weeks. It’s partially for me, partially for you. Hopefully, we both find enjoyment in it.

Chapter 2

This post will be WAY shorter than yesterday’s. I’m sure that we’ll all appreciate that. It’s shorter because I spent a lot of the day just chilling in the apartment. I’ve decided that I’m 100% okay with that happening on this trip. I’ll enjoy it however I decide to enjoy it without creating artificial pressure to spend it how I think other people would want me to spend it. Katrina and I were both up until after 5am last night for various reasons (I was creating a blog, for one). She decided to get up “early” to be at a lottery for Once on This Island by 12:30 (at which she won a front row ticket!), which is about when I was waking up. I would have preferred more unconsciousness, but it seemed better not to sleep the whole day.

From there until when Katrina got back after her matinee, there’s nothing much to report. I ventured out to grab breakfast from Dunkin’ Donuts, continued working on the blog, did a few sabbatical planning tasks, and took a shower and started feeling like a real human being again.

My first real stop of the day was dinner at Capizzi! We found this restaurant during our last trip to New York. It’s a small place practically under a bridge with great pizza and a “the mob bosses of New York frequently meet here” sort of charm. I did a build-your-own type of option with pepperoni and sausage, but decided to be adventurous and chose the egg option from the list as well. It came basically with an egg or two cooked over-easy on top. It was an odd pairing, but good. I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t ever order it again, but I enjoyed it. I would have liked to try some of the desserts there, but that's not really an option after downing a whole pizza. The ladies at the next table did let Katrina try their tiramisu when we asked whether they had enjoyed/would recommend it. The pizza:

We weren't too far from another favorite NY stop at that point. Schmackary's! Katrina stopped there earlier while I was still at the apartment. But now it was my turn for the best cookies in New York (not to oversell it)! I tried a peanut butter cookie with chocolate and peanut butter piped onto it and their Scmackerdoodle. I loved both, as usual.

We headed from there right over to the theatre for Frozen. I buy a magnet at every show I attend (a tradition I adopted from Katrina) and Frozen has a really good one. The show itself was really good too! I really liked the way that they managed Elsa’s magic on a stage. There were a couple of slight story tweaks that I appreciated. I didn’t love the Hans, but the young Anna and Elsa were amazing!

We did drop by the new Hershey Store location in Times Square, mostly to see whether they're carrying my favorite Reese's shirt again (they're not). I mention it just so I can include this s'more add we saw there that shouldn't be used as a pickup line:

Then, it was back to the apartment, staying up not quite as late as last night, finishing the blog setup (except for figuring out how NOT to make images gigantic), and sleep before tomorrow.

(Also, today I left my phone in the theatre and had to go looking for it while Katrina was at the stage door getting our programs signed. I met the house manager and eventually got it back. Whew. That would have been so much more dramatic than losing an umbrella.)
